Day 1: Wisdom for Living Successfully
Proverbs 1:1-2
These are the wise sayings of Solomon,
David’s son, Israel’s king—
Written down so we’ll know how to live well and right,
to understand what life means and where it’s going.
Principle
Proverbs are universal principles that contain wisdom for living a successful and abundant life.
When I was a desperate, young, and naive man about to embark on life, and more than a little nervous about what I was going to do and where I was going to go, I picked up a copy of a book entitled, See You At The Top by Zig Ziglar.
Zig recommended reading one chapter of Proverbs a day for the corresponding day of the month. Doing so, he said would help a simple person gain wisdom to be successful.
Well, that was an attractive concept for me. I was a simple guy. Eager and excited about life—but ignorant and poorly educated. My only advantage was that I knew that I didn’t know anything and that the pattern of living modeled before me was failure in living — drug abuse, alcoholism, adultery, jealousy, fits of rage — I wanted something more in life.
So, I invite you to adventure with me. Every day, we will read Proverbs and gain wisdom to immediately make application into our lives. It’s a big commitment – about 5 minutes total — but the rewards of consistency could be amazing.

I’m a woman and came across your website as I was trying to find a specific proverb through a Google search. I’ve been reading a proverb chapter a day for many years as well as my regular Bible study reading in the mornings. I have subscribed to Your daily reading. Thank you for this. It’s invaluable.
Truth. So many are wise in their own eyes, but know nothing.
Proverbs is Wisdom.
