Day 359: The Gate of Authority

Proverbs 25:28

A person without self-control is like a city with broken-down walls.

Principle

You are the gate of authority to your home.

At FivestarMan, we teach men to understand the Centurion Principle, which is the protocol of authority. The primary principle is that authority flows through leadership, not around it. This applies to you because since you are in the proper role of leadership in your home, you’re an authority.

This would sound arrogant and misogynistic if we didn’t understand that our leadership is servant leadership—those under our authority have the benefits of protection, promotion, prosperity, and empowerment.

With the position of leadership comes tremendous responsibility for you to have self-control. We know that as the gate of authority, whatever comes, comes through us. A great example of someone who knew this was Job.

“I made a covenant with my eyes not to look with lust at a young woman.” Job 31:1

Job goes on to say that if he had lusted for another woman, it would give access for the Destroyer to take claim upon his harvest. He also reasoned that his wife would become another man’s lover.

Wow! Job understood that his lack of control would open the door to his nemesis, the adversary.

Please take note that the adversary only has the power to destroy if we lack control of our gates—the eye gate being one of the most important.

It is especially difficult in our day when hamburgers can’t be sold without a double entendre. If a company must use such vulgarity to sell its food then, then need a better recipe.

My tip here is to “bounce your eyes.” So, if a commercial comes on the screen, or a woman walks in the room, or an ad on a website is trying to get your attention, bounce your eyes away. As simple as this sounds, it works.

Some men will suggest, “It doesn’t hurt to look.”

Jesus answered emphatically, “I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

Remember:

You're the gate of authority. The gate that you open is the one the enemy will access. Click To Tweet
