Day 279: Get Up!

Proverbs 6:10

A nap here, a nap there, a day off here, a day off there, sit back, take it easy—do you know what comes next? Just this: You can look forward to a dirt-poor life, poverty, your permanent houseguest!

Principle

The greatest temptation in a man’s life is comfort.

Men, we need to wake up! Men have drifted into seriously dangerous apathy.

Suddenly, there was a bright light in the cell, and an angel of the Lord stood before Peter. The angel struck him on the side to awaken him and said, “Quick! Get up!” And the chains fell off his wrists. – Acts 12:7

King Herod began to persecute Christians – he had the disciple James put to death – and now had his eyes upon Peter. Peter had been arrested and was about to face a mock trial and execution. However, believers began to pray and intercede for Peter. An angel assigned to rescue Peter showed up and awakened him from his stupor.

As I travel each week to speak to men, my goal is to awaken them out of their stupor, to shake them, and to alarm them out of apathy!

We’re facing a real danger in our times – this isn’t a time for fantasy games – we can’t afford to slumber. Our nemesis hates us for what we stand for – so wake up!

So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded. 1 Thessalonians 5:6
