Day 2: Even Champions Need a Coach
Proverbs 2:1-5
My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding—
indeed, if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.
Principle
Proverbs is a man’s book – written by a man to a man. It is the greatest compilation of manly wisdom that we should devour.
Taking advice is sometimes a difficult task for men. We’re notorious when it comes to asking for directions. Largely because we believe that we have a natural sense of direction.
However, when it comes to life and how to live it successfully, we need to get wisdom. In fact, I believe you can gain wisdom either through experience and pain or through a mentor. I recommend a mentor.
Even champions need a coach. Every successful player has a coach or even a team of coaches, trainers, and assistants to help make their game a success. Well, that’s what Proverbs is for us, it is a team of mentors who help us win in the game that matters and where the score counts – the game of life.
