Day 177: Adventure vs Monotony

Proverbs 26:13

The lazy person claims, “There’s a lion on the road! Yes, I’m sure there’s a lion out there!”

Principle

Adventure may hurt, but monotony will kill you.

The greatest temptation in a man’s life is comfort.

My grandfather was a strong man. His strength came from the factory, not the gym. He was hardened. That is until he retired and reclined in a lazy boy (the worst invention known to man). I watched my grandfather morph into a bored-apathetic man. His hardened body became soft – flabby. He hated it. He was embarrassed that he had sat down.

I recently had a conversation with a young entrepreneur who was discussing his plans for the future. He was considering leaving employment from one job because his boss wasn’t engaged in the business anymore – he seemed to have checked out. He became bored. I suggested never make plans for your future with someone who doesn’t have plans.

King David won every battle that he fought on the field of contest. In one particular battle, he was almost killed – counselors advised David never to enter the field again. They considered that he was much too valuable to have engaged in the fight. I would suggest that King David was much to value, too, not have him engaged in the contest field.

The only battle that King David did not win was the balcony of boredom.

Don’t allow yourself to become bored – not on the job -not in marriage – not in your walk with God – boredom kills.

Remember:

Take the risk - get back out on the field of contest. Share on X
