Day 79: Procrastinated Dreams

Proverbs 20:4

Those too lazy to plow in the right season
will have no food at the harvest.

Principle

It’s a fantasy to expect a future in which you haven’t sown a seed to harvest.

Solomon advised, “To everything, there is a season, a time for every purpose under the heaven.”

Have you ever missed a significant business appointment? It’s frustrating because you know that you may never recover from the loss of that moment no matter what happens. Even if you can reschedule the appointment for a later date, there will be a lingering doubt of you from now on.

Our advisor warns us that there is a right season – an appointed time to get things done. Miss that appointment, and you will not have the income or the reward that could come from it.

When I was a young man, I stood in the office of a successful businessman. As he told me part of his story, I looked at a rendering of a spectacular building. I exclaimed, “Wow! Where is this building?” As I turned to hear his reply, I noticed a forlorn look on his face; he exhaled a sigh of sadness, “That building is only in my dreams. I missed the opportunity to build it.”

He told me how the opportunity slipped by him – he no longer had the time or resources to build his dream.

How many guys spend their lives waiting for the right season to only look back and see that they lived through it without noticing the moment?
