Day 62: Hearing God

Proverbs 3:6

Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track.

Principle

God still speaks to men.

I played a round of golf with a couple of guys, enjoying the course, having a great time, and engaged in conversation. One of the guys asked me directly, “Neil; you said earlier that God spoke to you. What do you mean by that?”

He looked at me as if I were strange to say that God had spoken to me. Yet, I looked at him equally strange in thinking that he hasn’t heard the voice of God.

God is vocal. He still speaks to men; however, God’s voice no longer thunders and booms from heaven. When did God’s voice become silent?

When the people heard the thunder and the loud blast of the ram’s horn, and when they saw the flashes of lightning and the smoke billowing from the mountain, they stood at a distance, trembling with fear. And they said to Moses, “You speak to us, and we will listen. But don’t let God speak directly to us, or we will die!” – Exodus 20:18-19

Men asked God to go silent – His voice was so outstanding that they begged Moses to be their ambassador and speak with God on their behalf.

However, now we have the Holy Spirit, who speaks to us and through us. We can still hear the voice of God. Jesus said that those who follow Him would hear His voice and the voice of a stranger they would not follow.

You can hear from God.
