Day 366: The Laugh Is On You
Proverbs 1:26
“Since you laugh at my counsel and make a joke of my advice, how can I take you seriously? I’ll turn the tables and joke about your troubles!
Principle
The tables are turned when you laugh at Wisdom.
Have you ever heard a laugh at the most inappropriate time? It’s a shocking turnaround – when trouble strikes us because of our total disregard for Wisdom’s warnings – the laugh is on us.
Some men are completely oblivious to the precepts and principles of scripture. They disregard sound advice. They don’t accept rebukes. They thumb their noses against Wisdom’s warnings.
When a man mocks (mimic in derision) and laughs at these warnings, Wisdom turns the tables around and allows their mockery to boomerang upon them.
When you’re in trouble – life takes on a serious tone. You don’t want people to be jovial around you. It’s like laughing at a funeral – it’s inappropriate. So, it is with being trivial when wisdom is speaking to you.
