Day 346: A Diligent Man
Proverbs 12:27
Lazy people don’t even cook the game they catch, but the diligent make use of everything they find.
Principle
A diligent man takes care of everything his hand touches, making the most out of his possessions.
When I was in college, I took a step of faith by selling my car, so I wouldn’t have a car payment. Amazingly, someone heard about it and offered me a car — a 1976 Chevrolet Chevette. The car was parked under a large oak tree in Mobile, Alabama. It hadn’t been driven in a few years, so my brother-in-law worked to get it going again.
At the time, I worked at a car wash. I washed, waxed, treated the tires every day, and sprayed “new car” air fragrance on the interior. That car turned out to be excellent. It was a great “get-a-round” car. I was grateful for the gift and treated it with appreciation.
I was diligent in taking care of what was given to me.
What you respect is what you attract; what you disrespect, you will repel. What you have in your possession right now qualifies you or disqualifies you for more.
I see people who get a new car and treat it like junk. It’s not long until it loses its luster and shows disrepair. The value plummets, and they trade it in for another one. The cycle repeats itself.
I believe it is a sign of respect and dignity to take care of what you have in your hand and under your leadership. Put anything or anyone in the hands of a diligent man, and he will take good care and show responsibility for his possessions.
Remember:
You can't get a new car just because your ashtray is dirty. Take care of your possessions. Share on XKnow someone who would enjoy receiving The Daily Champion?
