Day 335: Complementary Parenting

Proverbs 1:8

My child, listen when your father corrects you. Don’t neglect your mother’s instruction.

Principle

Parents have a complementary strategy to teach a child.

When God created Man—male and female, He created them. The only part of creation that God paused and said, “It is not good,”—was when God saw Man alone. So, God put Man to sleep and extracted the feminine side of Man to create Woman. Man (Adam) named her Eve.

Adam and Eve were made in perfect complementary designs. Their complementary function fulfilled the purpose to “be fruitful and increase.”

Not only do the two become one to procreate—but they also have complementary strategies to instruct their children. This is an extremely important part of the parental purpose that God established for us.

Every credible study confirms the importance of both the father and mother in raising a healthy, secure, and well-balanced child. Our culture is experiencing the collateral damage of divided families, causing tremendous societal ills.

Anecdotal evidence is reaffirmed every week when a single father or mother shares with me the struggles of raising their children alone. Their experience is devastating and sad.

My experience of being raised by my mother, without my father’s influence, played a significant role in my life. Fortunately, I was able to hear the Gospel, accept the redemptive work of Christ, and receive Him to become a child of God, not born of a husband’s will or a human decision. (John1:12)

For those who are reading The Daily Champion and are facing this very challenge, I want to encourage you. God can redeem your situation and life. He can give you hope and a future.
