Day 314: Fears & Hopes
Proverbs 10:24
The fears of the wicked will be fulfilled;
the hopes of the godly will be granted.
Principle
Fears serve as warning signs. Hope serves as a directional sign.
One of the worst things about living a life of wickedness is the haunting that comes with it. Fears can be warning signs that forecast the future. Unfortunately, a lot of men don’t read the signs. They worry about it. Talk about it. Fret over it. Toss and turn in bed. Destroy their bodies with anxieties. Yet, when it comes to changing their ways, they don’t consider it.
In the day of prosperity, be joyful, and in the day of adversity, consider: God has made the one and the other, so that man may not find out anything that will be after him.
Ecclesiastes 7:14
Solomon is saying that we shouldn’t take our future for granted. We need to be conscientious about our life and examine the signs of adversity. If things are constantly going wrong, we should carefully examine our fears, words, and actions to see if we are on a path of destruction.
The good news is that the hopes of the godly will be granted. Hope is joyfully expecting the promises of God to come to pass. Hope has an assignment. Hope is a sign for the future and gives us directional intent.
