Day 27: Learn As You Go

Proverbs 27:1

Don’t brag about tomorrow, since you don’t know what the day will bring.

Principle

We don’t know what we don’t know.

At first, this seems to suggest that we shouldn’t make plans or have goals; yet, in the balance of other scripture, we know that our Advisor must be focusing on the particular issues of bragging about what we’re going to do.

The word brag is used negatively, which denotes something that madly and arrogantly raises their voice for a show. The picture is of Ethiopians who scream in a loud and piercing voice, saying, ellellell-ellellell.

In contrast, we certainly should have a vision for the future and the faith to motivate us to take the necessary steps to accomplish it. Our plans are submitted to the will of God; meaning, we are not arrogantly swaying about and telling everyone what we’re doing. Our plans align with God’s purposes; therefore, our confidence is in Him, not in us.

Our advisor continues, “you don’t know what the day will bring.” As we are pressing toward the mark, as Apostle Paul would say, we may have to pivot our plans because there are things we don’t know, and we will learn more as we are in the pursuit of God’s purpose.

Remember:

You don’t know what you don’t know, but you will learn as you go. Share on X
