Day 245: Panning for Gold

Proverbs 2:4

That’s right—if you make Insight your priority and won’t take no for an answer, searching for it like a prospector panning for gold, like an adventurer on a treasure hunt, believe me, before you know it, Fear-of-God will be yours; you’ll have come upon the Knowledge of God.

Principle

The most valuable commodity on earth is wisdom.

They’re called the “forty-niners” – the approximately 300,000 adventurers seeking gold in California. They overcame substantial hardship to get there. Amazingly, the first to arrive picked the gold off the ground. Then they had to start working the streams and panning as more and more harvested the commodity, the more sophisticated the technology advanced, resulting in enormous new wealth.

Solomon, our advisor, was an extremely wealthy man. It would be almost impossible to compare his wealth; he was arguably the wealthiest man ever.

He attributes the amassing of his wealth to one thing – that is wisdom. Wisdom is the principal thing.

Wisdom is a great commodity. Like panning for gold, we must sift through the worthless to determine the value. But if we discover it, our lives are changed forever.

Remember:

Wisdom is the greatest commodity.
