Day 221 – God Directs Your Steps
Proverbs 9:6
Leave your simple ways, and you will live; walk in the way of insight.
Principle
God relates to men in the daily commute.
Adam walked with God in the cool of the day. Enoch walked with God and was no more, for God took him. Noah walked in favor of God during a wicked culture. Abraham walked with God to a place where he didn’t know where he was going. Moses walked barefooted with God on the Holy Mountain. David walked with God in the valley of the shadow of death. Jesus, God with us, walked with man.
One of the greatest lessons that I’ve ever learned is that God “directs our steps.”
So, as you go to work today, realize that God wants to commune with you. He will give you insight for the day. He can help you with the challenges that you face. When you leave work to go home, commune with God again, and ask about your family.
What do they need from you? How can you be an encouragement to them and draw out the gifts that each of them has? Don’t waste your time listening to “talking heads” on the radio about nothing that matters – take the time to commune with God. You will gain insight.
In your relationship with your children, you will notice that the best time to imprint teaching upon them is as you go throughout the day. There were only a few times when we practiced family devotion – that is when the entire family came together and taught – most of the time, I taught my children as the day went by or as we traveled.
My wife and I continue to commune together – we discuss the Word and its application in our lives as we travel.
Likewise, God relates to us in that same manner.
