Day 220: Four Benefits of Wisdom

Proverbs 8:18

With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity.

Principle

A relationship with Wisdom brings benefits into our lives.

As we’ve been reading Proverbs every day, we quickly see that Wisdom is personified – meaning, it’s not a mystical abstract – we can have a viable relationship with Wisdom. Look at the side benefits of having a relationship with Wisdom – riches, honor, enduring wealth, and prosperity.

There’s a ton of confusion about these terms because some have miscommunicated their purposes, some even preaching Christ for personal gain. Nevertheless, we need to understand them and their Biblical meaning. So, let me give you the basics and what they mean from the original language in which they were penned.

  1. Riches`osher in Hebrew means “to be happy, to accumulate what is of value, to build up, to erect.” This means that you have abundant possessions.
  2. Honorkabowd means “dignity, reputation, splendor.” It means to have a weight or gravitas about you. You command attention because of your presence.
  3. Enduring wealth`atheq and hown mean that your riches will endure the test of time. It advances and enlarges over your lifetime. This is a tremendous benefit for leaving a legacy.
  4. Prosperitytsĕdaqah in Hebrew means “righteousness.” This benefit refers to our virtue, justice, and right standing. Prosperity isn’t referring to the material but the spirit and soul of man – it means that your journey is well.

Remember:

As we're gaining Wisdom, we will have the byproduct of these four benefits in our lives. Share on X
