Day 21: God Speaks Through Leadership

Proverbs 21:1

The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord;
he guides it wherever he pleases.

Principle

God places you under authority so that you can manage what He places you over.

It is a hard pill to swallow at times. The concept that God directs the heart of leaders. Throughout scripture, there are examples of men who were placed under harsh leaders who still purposed to do God’s will.

Joseph served as the Prime Minister of Egypt under the Pharaoh; yet, it was evident that God’s hand directed the Pharaoh to favor Joseph.

Daniel faithfully served the dictator of Persia, suffered persecution for his faith from his peers; yet, he was established as a respected counselor to the throne.

Mordecai honorably served King Xerxes and played a significant role in averting the annihilation of the Jews.

We must remember that we serve through leadership and not around it. As Paul tells us, “Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.” (Ephesians 6:7)

Don’t excuse yourself by judging the righteousness of those whom you serve. “For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good.” (Romans 13:4)
