Day 183: Good Company
Proverbs 2:20
So – join the company of good men and women, keep your feet on the tried-and-true paths.
Principle
If our steps are ordered of the Lord, so are our relationships.
Relationships have residue. In other words, the people with whom we associate rub off on us. You’ve heard the saying that some people are guilty by association.
We know that this is true when we observe the company with whom our children want to hang out with. How many teenagers have gotten into irreparable harm simply by being with the wrong people at the wrong time? How many prisoners would trace their illegal activities to the “friends” they had early in life?
Well…the same is true for us. The people that you do life with will rub off on you. They will affect you. You will affect them.
Some people can’t stay in step with you. I’ve learned that there are relationships that have an expiration date. They were seasonal. Not every relationship is lifelong. This really takes discernment to know and govern in your life because we want to stay connected with people.
If our steps are ordered of the Lord, so are our relationships. Some relationships are for this part of your journey, while others have the ability to keep on the same track with you.
