Day 175: Get Your Fight Back!

Proverbs 24:16

For a righteous man falls seven times and rises again, but the wicked are overthrown by calamity.

Principle

You can’t keep a good man down.

Remember the movie Rocky, the underdog boxer given a cursory fight with the champion, Apollo Creed? Rocky was poor, clumsy, and simple – but there was something deep within him that craved for more. This fight would give him more than a different lifestyle – it would give him a different life.

During the fight, the champ would dance a few rounds and then allow the upstart to take a fall. It would be a good show for the gamblers. However, Rocky had something else in mind. Every time that the Apollo Creed knocked him down, Rocky would struggle to his feet to come back for some more. Both men were bruised and battered by the end of the fight, but Rocky never took the fall.

That’s the kind of hunger pain that we should have – the kind of internal drive that says, “Ok, you’re gonna get a few licks in, but I am gonna keep coming back until your arms are so tired you can’t hit me anymore. Then, I am going to beat you.”

Job was an incredible man. He was so distinguished that Satan took note of him to accuse him personally and attack everything he held dear. He was attacked multiple times, yet he kept his integrity.

“He will deliver you from six troubles; in seven, no evil shall touch you.” (Job 5:19)

You may have been facing some tough times lately. You’ve been knocked down a few times. Get back up! Get your fight back!
