Day 157: Light Overcomes Darkness
Proverbs 6:23
For this command is a lamp, this teaching is a light, and correction and instruction are the way to live.
Principle
Darkness does not have the power to overcome light!
Historically, darkness is representative of the force of evil. It is tempting to conclude that darkness is an all-consuming force – that it is impossible to resist, but that isn’t true. In fact, it is the opposite. Light overcomes darkness.
God demonstrated the power over darkness when He said, “Let there be light!” And there was light (Genesis 1:2). When He released His Word, Light overwhelmed dark matter. Jesus demonstrated that He was the Light that overcomes darkness when He came to the earth as a man, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it”(John 1:5).
When we read the Word of God, we are shining a light into the dark matter of wrong thinking – doubt, fear, unbelief – and bringing correction to our way of life. Just as light penetrates darkness – the Word of God exposes the force of evil.
As you’re reading the Bible, receiving the instruction, correction, and reproving of the Word of God, you drive out the dark matter of evil and expose it for what it is.
