Day 191: Family I.D.
Proverbs 10:13
You’ll find wisdom on the lips of a person of insight,
but the shortsighted needs a slap in the face.
Principle
A real man of faith believes for things that will require longer than his lifetime to see them come to pass.
A FivestarMan lives to leave a legacy. In other words, our daily decisions and personal appetites are determined by a long-range view.
You see this kind of person being described in Hebrews 11 – men who lived in such a way as to think beyond themselves. A real man of faith believes for things that will require longer than his lifetime to see come to pass.
How did they do it? They saw it way off in the distance, waved their greeting, and accepted the fact that they were transients in this world. People who live this way make it plain that they are looking for their true home. (Hebrews 11:15)
We need to think long term.
I have a friend who mentors fathers to think in terms of 200 years for their family. This kind of thinking gives directional intent. It empowers them not to make hasty decisions. It dictates wisdom in decision-making.
You may think this way regarding being a steward of your family I.D. (Intentional Direction). This eternal thinking will cause you to pause and consider the consequences of decisions.
