Day 12: Leaders Are Readers

Proverbs 12:1

To learn, you must love discipline;
it is stupid to hate correction.

Principle:

Leaders are readers.

Advertisers have mastered the art of making men look stupid. He is seen as the butt of the joke. Men have shown good humor by laughing with them at our own expense, but it’s an old and worn-out strategy. The laughter is over. In fact, I am embarrassed that, as men, we have allowed ourselves to be the fodder of foolishness.

The word for stupid in our advisor’s language refers to being brutish. It’s the sad imagery of the mindless, meaningless, herd mentality of cattle. A man who isn’t willing to learn or be corrected is a brute. He lacks rational thinking. He is just aimlessly going with the flow – traveling the same trails and grazing the same fields. The only excitement in the routine of cattle is butting heads with each other. That’s the picture painted to describe mindless men who don’t think.

As men, we need to continue to learn and grow. We need to explore and read. We must have the discipline not only to take care of our bodies but also our minds. Expand your conversations beyond the surface of things. Don’t have a herd mentality. Leaders are readers. It will distinguish you from the crowd.

Remember:

Don’t be a brute. Share on X
