J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS!

Welcome back Winnipeg!

In 1996 the beloved Jets were torn from Winnipeg and moved south to Phoenix, becoming the Coyotes, as part of the NHL’s warm weather dreams. In 1997 Atlanta was awarded an NHL expansion team (the Atlanta Flames had moved to Calgary in 1980). The team was thoughtfully named the Thrashers. After 14 season, and waning interest in Atlanta, the owner’s opted to move north to Winnipeg where a great fan base lay in waiting. The nickname Jets has been re-established and the new logo (above) plays homage to the Canadian Air Force. Welcome back.
